MANCHESTER, NH — Ward 2 Alderman Will Stewart has told his supporters that he plans to announce that he is a candidate for mayor. Stewart has a birthday celebration scheduled for the To Share Brewery on March 20th at which he will announce his bid.

June Trisciani, the first-term alderman-at-large candidate who is considered a likely primary winner now that Joyce Craig is out, will hold a campaign fundraiser on March 23rd at Chris Pappas’ Puritan restaurant.

School Committee Chairman Jim O’Connell also is expected to run for mayor. There are rumors that former Alderman-at-Large Danny O’Neil may run for mayor, though it is more likely he will run to regain his former seat.

With Stewart running for mayor, former Manchester Fire Chief Dan Goonan is expected to run for alderman in Ward 2. With Goonan and Trisciani out of the alderman-at-large race, there is a good chance that O’Neil will rejoin Joe Kelly Levasseur on the Board of Aldermen.

The primary field likely will be crowded, with two-time losers Victoria Sullivan and Rich Girard likely to join fellow Republican Jay Ruais in the race.
