MANCHESTER, NH — Victoria Sullivan, the Republican whose campaign signs proclaim her “Mayor of Manchester” despite her landslide loss to incumbent Joyce Craig in 2019, came down with COVID in August but did not reveal it publicly.

Sullivan’s revelations came at the 2021 Chamber of Commerce mayoral debate held at Saint Anselm College yesterday, Wednesday, October 20th.

According to Andy Sylvia of Manchester Ink Link:

Sullivan stated she contracted COVID-19 in August and immediately isolated, and requested her husband take their children on vacation. However, she kept the matter private to avoid creating concern among her family members.

Until yesterday’s debate, Sullivan had played coy with the public about whether she was vaccinated or unvaccinated. Under the rules of the debate, she was required to wear a mask.

In agreeing to mask up for the debate, Sullivan requested that Joyce Craig also wear a mask; since the mayor is vaccinated, she wasn’t required to do so under the debate rules agreed to by both candidates.

For the record, challenger Sullivan said she did not oppose COVID vaccinations. She also claimed that since she contracted COVID, she had antibodies that protected her from the virus.

Her beliefs on whether mask-wearing protected people from contracting COVID from people like her went unstated.

Manchester Ink Link’s proposed Craig-Sullivan debate reportedly was scuttled by Victoria Sullivan’s refusal to be masked.
