MANCHESTER, NH — The turnout in Ward 9 this morning was steady and seemed to be skewing Republican, sources say. Alderman at Large Joe Kelly Levasseur was campaigning there this morning.

Manchester Ward 8 is the most Republican and conservative leaving of Manchester’s twelve wards, with Ward 9 also considered to be increasingly conservative.

Ward 8 is the only ward that Sullivan won in the 2019 general election.

Victoria Sullivan lives in Ward 9. She needs to rack up a large number of votes there and in the South End (Wards 7, 8 & 9) to counter Mayor Joyce Craig’s strength in the North End and throughout the Queen City.

Joyce Craig won all twelve wards in the September 2021 primary, when Sullivan faced off against Rich Girard for the honor of facing the incumbent in the general election. In the primary, Mayor Craig racked up 405 votes in Ward 9, against 180 for Girard and 274 for Sullivan.

In the 2019 general election, Joyce Craig beat Victoria Sullivan in Ward 9 by a vote count of 884 to 808.
