Victoria Sullivan’s chances seem as gloomy as the sky over her sign on South Willow St.

MANCHESTER WARD 9 — South End social media warrior Victoria Sullivan loves to portray herself as a downtrodden David, all on her lonesome, taking on the Goliath of the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

And why not? Her chances to win the seat on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen held by the late Barbara Shaw seem as gloomy as the sky over her sign on South Willow Street this morning, now that Shaw’s husband has declared that she would have supported Jim Burkush as her successor.

Since I heard from as good a source as any journalist can get that the two Ward 9 superpowers Shaw and Burkush (who had opposed her in the 2019 election), through the process of detente had reached a entente that Shaw would serve one more term, then retire from the Board of Mayor and Alderman and then support Burkush in the 2023 election — Sullivan needs to clutch at as many straws as she can.

The weak sister among Ward 9 political powers, Victoria Sullivan won her home ward by a whopping eight votes in the 2021 mayoral election.

LANDSLIDE VICKY!!!

Now, if I knew about the Shaw-Burkush agreement, than Sullivan knew about it too. That explains why, after supporting Barbara Shaw in 2019, Vicky ran a kid against her in 2021.

Yet, on social media, she sheds crocodile tears that anyone would make the assertion that Barbara Shaw would have preferred Jim Burkush succeed her as Ward 9 alderman.

Vicky All On Her Lonesome?

Smilin’ Vicky Sullivan in Happier Days in Ward 9 Not Far From Her Alderman Campaign Sign

Victoria Sullivan recently issued a clarion call for support, making yet another dubious claim, that the New Hampshire Democratic Party is running the campaign of Jim Burkush, her opponent for the aldermanic seat in Ward 9 left vacant by the death of Barbara Shaw.

Burkush successfully ran the Manchester Fire Department as chief for many years, establishing a reputation for independence and for not knuckling under to the demands of former Mayor Ted Gatsas to scale-back firefighting services. He also is no stranger to campaigning, having run against Shaw in the 2019 election.

Vicky Sullivan’s spin is that the big bad Goliath of the New Hampshire Democratic Party is running Jim Burkush’s campaign, despite the fact that he is well positioned to beat her without the massive influx of support she fantasizes about him receiving.

And what of Victoria Sullivan? Is she really going to be all on her lonesome? Will the Granite State chapter of the Grand Old Party of Donald Trump be there for her, when it is not busy planning on ousting John Sununu?

Who knows? How far would you go to back a perpetual loser?
