Rich Girard Considering Asking for Recount in Mayor’s Race

MANCHESTER, NH — Former Manchester City Republican Party Chair Tammy Simmons published a screenshot from Rich Girard’s Girard for Mayor Facebook page in which yesterday’s loser in the Queen City mayoral primary said he was thinking of asking for a recount.

In the post on the Facebook page shared by Simmons, “Rich” says:

Dear Friends.

The official results have us down by 128 votes. After what happened in Windham, I think it’s prudent to trust, but verify the results. Therefore, I am considering a recoung.

“What now?” That’s a question I’ve been asked a lot in recent hours. The honest answer is I don’t know. I will be weighing what happened and how best to move forward and will make an announcement in the coming days.”

He then gives a shout out to his family and supporters.

Rich Girard’s chance of getting into the general election in November likely depends on the number of absentee ballots that were cast. It seems like the problem with the errant 2020 Windham vote count was caused by the fold in absentee ballots.

If the fold on absentee ballots went across or near Girard’s name, he would be foolish not to request a recount. One hundred twenty-eight votes is a lot to make up, but if there was a machine error, Rich Girard actually might have come in number two in the Manchester mayoral primary.
