ManchesterInkLink Endorses Carla Gericke & One of Her Fellow Free Staters Running as a Democrat For State Rep From Ward 11
Gericke Leads Anti-USA Secessionist Party — OPINION
MANCHESTER, NH — ManchesterInkLink issued its first-ever candidate endorsements and frankly, a couple of the ones for State Rep from Manchester Ward 11 are a lulu. I’m still scratching my head over the logic, or what seems more correctly, illogic of its choices. Apparently, the Queen City-based news site has an affinity for members of the Free State Project.
Or maybe not.
Two endorsements of State Representative candidates who live in Manchester Ward 11 really puzzled me and pissed me of: America-bashing secessionist Carla Gericke for Hillsborough District 22 (which is Ward 11 itself), and her fellow Free State Project member Matthew Ping for the floterial District 40, which in absurd gerrymander covers Manchester Wards 1, 3, 10, 11 and 12.
I’m still scratching my head, baby, over these unwarranted endorsements and I have precious little hair to lose from worrying the top of my noggin.
The introduction for the endorsements claims that they are not based on a person’s policies, but on whether they “showed up” — whatever that means. Filling out the site’s candidate questionnaire apparently is one of the ways a candidate “shows up.”
According to The InkLink:
Unlike the endorsements from most publications, our endorsements are not predicated on policy. Manchester Ink Link aims to be a news source for people in Manchester of all political persuasions and we strive to maintain as much objectivity as possible in our pursuit of that goal, something that could be threatened by a “traditional” endorsement.
Still, there is one adage that we believe here at Manchester Ink Link that we think everyone in Manchester can agree with: “the world is run by those who show up.”
The list of candidates below that we are endorsing in 2022 are those who responded to our voter guide questionnaire and thus we believe will put in the effort to do the job, be transparent and be responsive if they are elected.
How is it that relator Matthew Ping, a Free Stater who talked about real estate and only that issue (which covers rent) on Manchesterinklink’s Voters Guide and who has never done anything I know of politically other than being married to Manchester Republican Party Vice Chair Brittany Ping and retweeting several tweets critical of Democratic policies qualifies for an endorsement? What just did he show up for? One of Carla Gericke’s anti-USA/New Hampshire secession kaffeeklatches?
And how is it that Alderman at Large June Trisciani — who is running a write-in campaign for State Senate from District 16 — does not rate an endorsement?
The Union Leader knows June Trisciani was running. I knew June Trisciani was running and reported so on my public access TV show last week. All the world seems to know June Trisiciani is running as a write-in candidate for State Senate District 16 except for Manchesterinklink.
Maybe they should rethink this endorsement process for the next round of political musical chairs come November.
Despite my bitching, kudos are in line for InkLink Publisher Carol Robidoux and writer Andy Sylvia for taking the time and effort to put the Voters Guide together
But about those endorsements…..
