GOP Activist Daniel Mowery Denounces Drag Shows as “Disgusting” Before Board of Mayor & Aldermen
MANCHESTER, NH — Ward 6 activist Daniel Mowery called drag shows “disgusting” in remarks made before the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen on June 6th. Mowery was expressing his opposition to the public funding of an LGBTQI+ event at West High School during Pride Month that was characterized as a drag show by critics.
Some critics claimed that the so-called “drag show” would feature students being given Monopoly money to give to crossdressing strippers. Apparently, no such performance was held at West High.
Mowery told the Boar, “I received my tax bill yesterday. I was not happy, as always. I am kind of tight with my dollars as I like to give it back to my community.”
He called Public funding of a drag show at a public school “ridiculous.
“Another thing, as being an openly gay man and having a partner of seven years, I hate to see a drag queen show at any public school or public library,” Mowery said. “That is disgusting.”
“Drag queen shows belong in bars, night clubs or whatever else — in private places. Not to show our kids.
“If you’ve been to a drag queen show, you know they are not very PG. They’re disgusting.”
Mowery followed up with an appearance at the Board of the School Committee on June 12th, in which he again spoke out against the holding of drag shows at public schools.
His criticism of the LGBTQI+ event was repudiated by BOSC members as being inaccurate.
A Facebook page posting of photos of anti-drag show activists showed Mowery with Ward 6 Alderman Krissy Kantor, who reportedly sat with him inside the chamber where the BOSC meets.
