MANCHESTER, NH — Socialist Bernie Sander finished a strong #1 in the preliminary results released by Manchester Ward 10, one of the three neighborhoods in the Queen City’s West Side. The “other side of the river,” the West Side traditionally is more conservative than the City’s more affluent North End and troubled center city wards.

Bernie led the field with 505 votes.

Amy Klobuchar finished a strong second in Manchester’s Ward 10 on the West Side

Amy Klobuchar, Bernie’s defender during the last debate that was held at Saint Anselm College in neighboring Goffstown, which shares a border with Ward 10, finished a strong second place with 288 votes, thirteen more than Pete Buttgeig, who placed with 275 votes.

Sen. Klobuchar was strongly supported by State Rep. Heidi Hamer, a popular first term member of New Hampshire’s General Court, who represents Ward 10 in Concord.

Despite having the support of legendary State Sen. Lou D’Allesandro and former Alderman-at-Large Mike Lopez, both denizens of Ward 10, former Vice President Joe Biden came in a disappointing fourth, with 158 votes. That enabled him to best Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who only racked up 134.

Among the last two of the candidates that appeared in the Saint Anselm debate, Tom Steyer did the best, with 73 votes. Andrew Yang, despite having the presence of supporters at the polls for most of the day, actually did worst. He actually came in behind Tulsi Gabbard, who scored 69 votes.

Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick only garnered five votes. Another former Massachusetts Governor, Bill Weld, did abysmally in the Republican Primary, winning on 67 votes. Joe Walsh got all of three.

President Donald Trump, who was in Manchester on election eve hosting a rally in a hockey arena that attracted in excess of 11,00 supporters, was the favorite of 719 Ward 10 voters.
